2007:
Sandy Siegel, President and CEO of Chesapeake Urology Associates in Baltimore – one of the largest urology practices in the nation – founded the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge and hosted the largest first-time event of its kind Maryland drawing more than 1,100 participants to its 5K Run and one mile Fun Walk and raised more than $135,000.
2008:
The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge expands to include four new cities (Harrisburg, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Nashville, TN; and Richmond, VA).
2009:
ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer merged its race series, DASH FOR DAD (Washington, DC and Buffalo) with the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge creating nine races across the country and added new events in Long Island, NY; Memphis, TN; and Kansas City, MO.
2010:
The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge expanded to four new cities (Albuquerque, NM; Columbus, OH; Poughkeepsie, NY and The Villages, FL) and joined forces with former PACE Race city Minneapolis, MN to bring the GPCC to 14 cities nationwide and raise more than $750,000 for prostate cancer research, testing and awareness.
2011:
The race series exploded into 13 new cities in 2011 including Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI and added a celebrity golf tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge attracted more than 12,000 participants and raised nearly $2 million for advocacy toward prostate cancer research, providing early detection and spreading education and awareness.
2012:
The race series continues to expand in 2012 with the addition of five new cities including Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Shreveport, Miami, and Lancaster, PA.
