This Race is USATF Certified.
Bring the whole family and get ready for the first ever Great Prostate Cancer Challenge® 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk for the Birmingham area. Competitors from across the State are invited to pick up the pace against prostate cancer. Lace up your sneakers and join Urology Centers of Alabama and ZERO — The Project to End Prostate Cancer on Saturday, September 24, 2011 for the GPCC – Birmingham. The race is part of the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, America’s Premier Men’s Health Event Series, taking place in 27 cities in 2011. Funds raised go to prostate cancer research, education, and free screenings. ZERO provides comprehensive treatment information to patients, education to those at risk, and free screenings to men around the country. The Urology Health Foundation provides free screenings to men in the State of Alabama. ZERO also works to increase research funds from the federal government to find new treatments and better diagnostic tests for this disease.

Stroller Policy:

We believe a fit family is a happy family and allow strollers on our course. However, we do have some requirements: you must start in the back, you may not weave through packs of runners, and you must always yield the right of way to other runners.

Pet Policy:

Pets will not be allowed.

Cash Awards will be given to 1st Overall Male and Female winners (cannot win in age group), Awards will also be given to the winners in the following age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-99.

Timing & Scoring:

Birmingham Track Club will be the official timekeeper of the event the manual tear off tag system, Digital Display Clock, "Time Machine" timer, and computer Race Program ("Race Director" by Roger Bradshaw).

Hazardous Weather:

If it rains we will run, but if it is thundering or lightning, the race will be postponed or rescheduled to a later date.
